My Darling Little Girl:
In these breathless days it seems as if it were necessary to deny myself everything that I want to do, and therefore I have been able to send you nothing more than the telegram I sent the other day. But I must, before I get away, send a more extended message from both of us of love and constant thought of you and of Mac.
There is nothing special to say about ourselves except that we are well and that we are hurrying back to Paris only because we believe that by hurrying back we can hasten the date when we can have the blessed privilege of coming home to stay.
We have followed you both as well as we could with the deepest and most constant affection, as you need not be told. We shall have a happy reunion when the work at Paris is over.
With a heartful of love,
Your devoted
Father
