Text

My dear Heath:

Alas, I am not to see you. I find that this is my only chance to get away for an absolutely needed rest and I am going down the river Friday afternoon, to be gone until Monday morning. I am not very keen for any sort of public dinner, but I am genuinely disappointed that I am not to have the great pleasure of seeing you. Better luck next time!Your guess as to the German note was certainly very close to the mark.

In haste

Affectionately yours,
Woodrow Wilson
