If I had not been in bed with the grippe, I would very much sooner have written you a line to express my admiration of the way in which you handled the Navajos at Beautiful Mountain. I instinctively knew that you were the right man to send, and the result has justified my expectations perfectly. Everyone here speaks of what you have done in terms of the highest admiration, touched with affectionate regard, and certainly I share these feelings to the utmost.
