Text

My Dear Mr. Wilson

From some things I saw in the Washington Post this morning, I have become a little afraid that you might launch your anti-trust legislation bolt too early. For heaven’s sake wait until we get the currency bill through. Rome was not built in a day. Let us get through with one thing at a time anxd then tackle the next thing in line. I am inclined to think that you and I agree in the fundamental ideas as to the management of the trust question, but please do not precipitate it until we are through with the other things. After all, it is the pièrce de resistance, of Democratic legislation¹ and must be husbanded.

I am, with every expression of regard,
Very truly yours,
John Sharp Williams
