Hon. Woodrow Wilson
Executive Offices

Dear Mr. President:

Since I saw you Thursday morning I have talked on a very friendly footing with Senator Bristow and with Senator Nelson. Both of them speak in the most encouraging way of a unanimous report on the bill. They agree with me that there wasis not the slightest reason for handling the bill on a partisan basis, and they think we shall be able to report at about the date I suggested, November 10th.
I sounded them both on the matter of holding hearings in the evening next week, but they were both opposed to it. They have worked hard on tariff and currency matters, and in addition Senator Nelson (who is a veteran of the Civil War) has been on the Lobby Investigation Committee.
I am sure that your interview with Senator Reed brought good results. He spoke to me about the bill in a way which indicated that he considers himself in accord with the administration. I have not yet had a chance to talk with Senator Hitchcock. Senator Reed thought that I ought to tell you that I thought a unanimous report from the Committee was probable. I did not tell him that I had already seen you.

Henry F. Hollis
