Sir

The Executive Council of the Amedrican Federation of Labor is now holding its regular session in Washington, and I am authorized by my colleagues to ask, and take pleasure in asking, whether you can find it convenient to meet us for the purpose of a conference upon matters in which we feel you are deeply interested.
If agreeable to you and to the Secretary of the Department of Labor, we respectfully suggest his participation in the conference.
Of course any time which you may designate will be entirely agreeable to us, but in order that the entire Executive Council might participate, I shall additionally appreciate it if you can meet us either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of this week.

I have the honor to remain,
Sam. Gompers.
President, American Federation of Labor.
