Text

My Dear Mr President

I was talking yesterday with Jones of Va & I find that he has a good opinion of Sheuster for Gov Gen. He also spoke of Harrison of NY (Francis Burton). I drop you a line to say that Harrison strikes me favorably. He has ability, experience & loyalty. He is also prominent, being next to Underwood on the Ways & Means Com. I believe he is worth considering. You have spoken of Hartman. He has been appointed minister to Ecuador and will be here next week & you will have a chance to look him over. If you want him for the Philippins he will, of course, be glad to make the change. He would be a reliable man any where. If Lind succeeds he might be might not be a bad man for the place

With assurances of respect etc

I am my dear Mr President
Yours truly
WJ Bryan
