Text

My dear Mr. Tumulty

We had a very satisfactory visit to the President yesterday. I was glad that we could have time enough for a discussion of the questions that were troubling us. The trustees of the University here had practically agreed on Mr. Buckler for president and I suggested that before that action was taken the President be consulted again. He renewed his suggestion of Dr. Fine of Princeton upon whom the trustees had not been able to agree. In line with the President’s suggestion, I am going to send Harry West to Princeton to write an article on Dr. Fine’s record there.
I was deeply interested in what you told me yesterday. If we can do anything for the cause command us. I am leaving for Europe by the Imperator next Wednesday but can be reached any time as I will be in daily cable communication with The Sun office.

Sincerely yours,
Charles H Grasty

Mr. Joseph P. Tumulty,
