Text

Mr. John R. Mott,

It would help rather than interfere with your work as representative of this government if you retained your posts of guidance in your present work. It would be quite possible also to allow you in all ordinary circumstances such leaves of absence as are necessary. I am eager to unite what you represent with what this government means to try to represent. I have set my heart on the appointment because of all it will imply no less than because of my complete confidence in your character and ability.
