Dear Mr. President:
Referring to your note of May 11, 1917, requesting weekly reports of allotments made from the appropriation of $100,000,000 for National Security and Defense, I have to advise you that since the date of the 49th report given you by letter of the 13th instant, notices of your approval of the following additional allotments have been received:
Amount of allotments as reported in Department letter
of May 13, 1918- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $71,926,021.72

May 13--To Department of State:
For expenses of administration of pending Bill entitled
“An Act to prevent in time of war departure from or
entry into the United States contrary to the public
safety.” Defense Fund to be reimbursed when Congress
shall have provided available moneys- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 25,000.00
“ 13--To War Department:
To be applied to the completion of the water
connection between Chicago and the Mississippi
River by way of the Illinois and Michigan Canal - - - - - - - 150,000.00
“ 16--To Department of Labor:
For additional expenses caused by the creation of the
National War Labor Board for the balance of the
fiscal year 1918 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 70,000.00
To date, therefore, the charges against the appropriation)
of $100,000,000 have been - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 72,171,021.72
Leaving an unallotted balance May 18, 1918, of - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 27,828,978.28
(Amount of reimbursable allotments now outstanding,
$17,414,280.)
