During one of Mr. Wilson’s campaigns, after finishing one of his speeches, an old farmer walked up to him, slapped him on the back and holding out his hand said: “Put her there, Doc, you are all right.” In commenting upon the incident the President remarked: “I then realized for the first time that I had arrived as a politician.”
