Text
My dear Grayson
Your letter of June 18 gave me considerable comfort: and you are quite right in speaking of the depression of mind which accompanies these infections. I do not think I was ever lower in my spirits in my life!
I came back from New York last week. I think I am improving, but slowly. I am trying to go easy, and find that difficult.
I am glad to know about Dr. Smith, and if I need to go down to New York again I think I shall have him look me over. It has been altogether a miserable business, due partly, I am sure, to the fact that I thought I could drive through it as I have always done in the past with illnesses I thought trivial. From now on I see that I have got to be careful.
With much appreciation & many regards
Ray Stannard Baker
