Dear Sir:

We thank you for the payment of $3 made for one year’s membership dues in the National Geographic Society for Mr. William H. Lacey Jr. It is regretted, however, that we have been unable to effect the enrollment as our records show that although Mr. Jack Brewer by whom the blank was signed was formerly a member of The Society his affiliation was discontinued several years’ ago and he is not eligible, therefore, to nominate at this time.

We are enclosing another blank and, if you will fill this in with your son’s full name and complete address, have it signed by someone who is now a member of our organization, and return it to us, the nomination will be given immediate attention.

In the meantime, we have entered a subscription to the National Geographic Magazine in favor of Mr. Lacey Junior, independent of membership in The Society, giving credit from January, 1932, the month from which membership in our organization is always made effective. The subscription price of our periodical is 50 cents a year more than the annual dues of members of our organization and your payment is sufficient to cover delivery on this basis for only eight months. Credit has been given accordingly but, of course, when the membership is effected, we will cancel the subscription and transfer its cash value to membership dues and the amount which we have will be sufficient to cover the fee for this year in full.

The magazines due to date have been sent to your son, future numbers to follow as released, and we hope that our periodical will be received regularly and that the monthly copies will be found increasingly valuable.

Yours very truly,

OP Austin
Secretary
