Tardieu cannot respond before this evening, but in any event we are counting on you Saturday evening at 8:00 at the Chevy Chase Club without any ceremony.

I will rejoin my wife in Baltimore this afternoon and we will return tomorrow morning.

I know that she was enchanted with the welcome she received at the hospital, and that doesn’t surprise me—I am happy to see the most difficult problems resolve themselves and that the good spirit of realization triumphs over all.

Truthfully, I so love this young army that is forming that I envy the American comrades at the War College leaving today for their camps.

The news from France is good and I predict that the wearing down of the Germans will be even more considerably accentuated before the winter.

While waiting for the pleasure of seeing you on Saturday, give my affection to your husband and accept for yourself the tribute of my respectful and loyal devotion
