Dear Montie:
I am enclosing check for $61.44 for the topcoat. When I tried it on I thought for a moment that you had made a mistake and ordered it for Tom Bowers! However, my tailor tells me he can adjust it so I am just as grateful as though it were my size.
Concerning the appointment to the Naval Academy, it is a very complex situation, as the only way you can get an appointment there is through the Congressional District or State from which the young man comes, or find a congressman or senator at the last moment who has a vacancy due, usually, to the fact that his principal or alternate may have failed - but you dont get that information until the eleventh hour. I have made a number of inquiries without success so far.
My best to you and yours - and many thanks for the trouble you have taken about the topcoat. I am really delighted to have it.
Affectionately yours,
Cary T. Grayson
