Dear Altrude

Happy New Year and many, many more—Thank you for your sweet thought of me—The Fruit Cake will be a joy for many days—as it keeps so beautifully that is—if I dont eat it up—which is a great temptation—When I saw that you had addressed the package I hoped you were in town and I could see you—but I expect it came to one of the boys—who had it delivered

Do excuse this businesslike paper, but it is on my desk and I would have to get up to get the other kind and I am afraid I would never get back today—I have so many interuptions—I feel it has been ages since I saw you in N. york in August—Do come down soon—Then you were hoping the trip to hthe Cape would be good for “George”—I do hope it was and that the New Year is going to bring new health and happiness to you both
