Dearest Altrude
I have just gotten home from Richmond where I spent 2 days with Lettia—and find your sweet note thanking me for that tiny thought of you at Xmas.
I am a little perplexed as to this—you have always been so generous in remembering me that I know this year was no exception—but I think you would want to know I failed to receive it—due—I am sure—to that tieup of the mails before the Holidays—I am sure you will understand I write this only because I want you to know of my appreciation of your thought. I will never forgive you if you do anything about it—just be sure of my love & gratitude.
It was lovely to see you—but don’t let so many days go by between visits—I miss you!
When in Richmond Lettia asked Constance Ca over to dinner—I did not know she had married. But she told me she had heard from you, so of course you did—Her husband was in Phoenix—I was sorry not to meet him—I do hope you found George much better. Remember me to him—with love to your dear self—
