Thursday night. 8’oclock. “Govenor” Ross reading the green sheet,

Perhaps about news from Havre de Grace,—Jamaica & other places.—

Dearest

I can wield the pen to-night but I am practically unable to use my voice. The cold which I contracted two days ago settled in my larynx and I scarcely can speak above a whisper. I came home after lunch to-day and went to bed. I am not sick but just hoarse.

Dr. Lovett, President of Rice Institute, Houston, Texas and Dr Axson lunched with me at the Metropolitan Club—Mr. Robert Brookings joined us at the table. He, you know, gave most of the money for Washington University, St Louis, and also gave two million to a hospital in St. Louis—

I have Dr. Axson going fairly well again.

Every one is upset about Baseball tickets. There are about six applicants for every seat. I have had difficulty with mine—They promised me a box of six but I have not my hands on the tickets as yet. I’m promised their delivery in the morning. So many have been disappointed that it makes me feel a bit uneasy. Every one says the management of the distribution tickets is very poor—

I am planning to send My Own to Latonia. I think all considered it is worth spending a thousand with a chance to win sixty thousand—He has a better chance at a mile & a quarter.

The other night at Miss E.—Mr. Hamlin and Fitzwilliam was there. She appeared quite guilty for passing us by. I did not encourage her any—

Everything is progressing at 1600—Davis is working—Opened your trunk and the one Irene checked came all right—The weather is coll cool and clear. I hope it will be this way on your return. I will he happy when you and the boys return—

I miss you every day. I am afraid you are working too hard packing up—Take care of yourself, my dear little girl—

Much love to you all—

Yours
