My dearest one,
I was greatly delighted to receive your dear letter to-day. It made me happy but homesick for you all.
It is real summer but not bad like it was several weeks ago. I am holding my own and feeling very well—Better than I anticipated. The President is beginning to show decided effects of the strain which he has been subjected to. He is terribly in need of a rest. I am wondering what to do about him. Miss E. is a perfect darling to him and helps him more than any one can imagine.
BMB was here for dinner to-night. They seemed to enjoy him. He has done some fine work with certain senators in the past twenty four hours. A poor note from a sleepy fellow.
