Dearest,
Yesterday, King Albert, of Belgium called on the President. He is just what I had expected of him from what I read about him. He is a fine real man. He and the President got along thankfully. I had a most interesting visit with him in addition. He gave me a warm invitation to visit Brussels. After calling upon the President, he called upon Miss E. She conducted herself in a manner that would make any American—barring some hot headed anti-administration-ites—proud of her.
Last night the President was taken violently sick and had an awful time of it. But, I am happy to say that everything is better to-day—but still we are on uneasy street. I am on hand all the time and watching him like a hen with one chicken. Miss E. is a perfect angel and a dear.
Saturday—April 5. We had a bad night and with a hundred and one things to do to-day I am not in much shape for a letter—but to tell you that I love you and the boys best of everything and you first and foremost of all—The President is still in bed but improving. I love to help him—he is so big and fine—
Good night—my love—
