My dear Admiral
Is it not a d--d shame that the President's sacrifices, costing his health and threatening his life seem to be thrown away? As Cicero said: Quosque tandem abutere nostra patientia Oh, Lodge, Reed, and the whole bunch of -headed, egotistic, envious politicians.
The President did exactly right. It is better to put the question squarely to the people. The Lodge program is an insult to self-respect.
Tell the President that his friends will not be deceived nor will the people forgive the munition and profiteers behind this ignominious conspiracy.
Sincerely Yours,
WE Chilton
