Dearest

WednesdayIt is snowing hard to-day, but I am hoping for better weather to-morrow as I am leaving at day break for Verdun, and other places by motor to return Friday night. I am going with Col. Percy Jones of the Medical Corps of the Army, an old friend of mine, who has been over here since we entered the war. He is in command of the Ambulance Corps. We are going th to Soisson and the Argonnne Woods where the Germans camped in dugouts for four years. This is just the kind of an expedition you would like and makes me real homesick when and feel selfish when I realize how much you would like to be along and how I would love to have you.

We are carying two days rations, blankets etc. I am so busy preparing for this trip, one would think that I am planning to go on a long Campaign.

I am hurrying to get this in the pouch which leaves this afternoon, so pardon haste—Lots of love, and all best wishes—
