My dear Brother
Your letter of the 9th received.
You have my profound sympathy, confidence and congratulations. Please give the President my love and assure him that I am praying for his speedy and permanent recovery; and tell him I know our prayers will be answered and he will again be in his place without any impairment.
I sympathize with you in these trying days because there was never a greater exhibition of infernal politics from the very depths of the infernal world than has been practiced by the Republican party during the illness of the President. When men invade the sacred sick room of the President with their innuendos, falsehoods, suspicions, charges, misrepresentations, the limit of degeneration has been reached. I wish you would say as much. Put it on the wire, sign my name to it. Tell the President that his friends will see that revenge is repaid; but better still, we are trusting our Heavenly Father. Vengeance is His and He will repay.:Please keep me informed. Give Mrs. Wilson my best regards.
Again assuring you of my confidence and asking you to let me help you at any time, I am
