Dearest Gertrude
Luck certainly broke my way this time. A multitude of things have arisen in Washington that demand the President’s attention there at once, so he said to me yesterday afternoon, if we could get the private car here by this afternoon we would leave for Washington. I am just in receipt of a message saying that the car will arrive at Windsor at one o’clock. We depart for Washington at 2:54—and due to arrive there to-morrow morning, 9.35, Thursday. I shall either send you a note, or otherwise get into communication with you by twelve o’clock, Dear. I am so happy I am going to see you so soon for it seems such a long, long time since that good-by in Boston—I am writing this in the place of a telegram and have only a few minutes before the 10.30 mail—hence the rush—
With a heart full of love and a longing for you, dear Gertrude, I am, Forever your
