Dear Sir

I am completing for Mrs. Wilson the estate tax return necessary to be filed with respect to the estate of the late Ex-president Woodrow Wilson. There are two matters inquired about on the usual blank filed in such cases which are in the present case quite unimportant, but in respect to which we do not wish to make an inaccurate statement. They are: (1) “Cause of death”, and (2) “How long ill”.

Mr. John Randolph Bolling writes me from Maine about this as follows: “Cause of death and how long ill: I am sure this appears in the certificate of death filed by undertaker, or by doctors--probably latter. Think you had better get it exact. If not found there, I am sure Dr. Grayson can supply”.

Pursuant to this suggestion and authority to make inquiry of you, I have to request that you give me as brief a statement to be filled in each of these blanks as is consistent with accuracy.

Yours very truly,

Paul E. Lesh.
