Text

My dear Admiral:

I have been intending to write you ever since Mr. Oxnard’s visit of the pleasure we had in meeting him and his family and in entertaining them at the Embassy. I should have liked very much to secure an audience of the King for Mr. Oxnard, but His Majesty was at Ostend at the time of Mr. Oxnard’s visit and I was unable to arrange for a presentation.

I was so glad to read the other day that the President is better, and I hope that he is going on well. Assure him of my best wishes and constant affection, if you have the occasion.

I trust that all goes well with you, and with this letter go to you the most cordial remembrances, my dear Admiral, of your friend

Brand Whitlock
