Text
Your letter of came to-day. It made me happy. I read some parts of it to Miss Ede. It pleased her immensely, she and the President are so sweet about you that it makes me love them more than ever—I have had no news from you and the boys to-day and I feel quite lonesome.
My old friend Frank H. Hitchcock— former Postmaster General called on me to-day; he was just as fine in his expressions of friendship for me as he could be—and said that he was not only proud of me but that he had always had a peculiar personal interest in my welfare and happiness etc. I am to have lunch with him to-morrow—Take good care of your precious self. Don’t get up and go about before the 5th (fifth week) from the day the of the 21st—Be on the safe side—Dr Kelley is fine but is inclined to let his patients get up and about too soon. It is tiresome and hard to remain in five weeks but I think it is economy in the long run—Kiss the little boy and Gordon for me. I love them both very dearly but you more so—than any thing or any body in the world—Your ever devoted—
