Text

My darling

I felt last night as if something was unusual was happening. This morning when your cable came telling me the great news that another son had arrived and that you both were doing well. In fact, the cable was a message from Dr. Kelly transmitted by Mr. Tumulty. It made me weep with joy—Just to think, we have another little boy. Won’t they be a fine little team. I know Gordon will be delighted. Sweetheart, he is another link in my chain of love and affection for my dearest and most adorable Trudie. He seems to add strength and more love in that chain, if it be possible to make it any stronger—as there seemed no room for any more love—that already being so big and great. I love you more and more and more all the time.

To hear that you are all right makes me feel so good. This is certainly the brightest and most beautiful day ever seen in France or any other Country. I feel that I must fly to you. If that trans atlantic flying machine would only give me a trip across at lightning speed, I should be so happy. I want to see you and kiss you, my love, so, so much. I know he is a fine little fellow and like his dear, dear brave mother,I have not told any one about him except the President & Miss E. They seem so happy and are so dear about you & all.

Be sure to take good care of your dear, precious self. There is so much I want to say, and can convey my real feelings only feebly and poorly in a letter.

I write again to-morrow. Hope Miss Agee is with you and I am sure every one in the house is excited and delighted. Tell Margaret, I can picture her future with the gay young fellows.

Thank all for me for their kindness to you—for I feel sure they have been—Doctor Kelley—Miss Agee—the anot other nurse, whose name I do not know—Margaret, Alice, Irene and Pride—I feel so grateful to every one who is kind & good to my darling.

With all good wishes & kisses to the little unnamed fellow—Tell him how glad I am that he is here—a warm welcome and that I shall hope he will be good to his mother— always—

With with with all my love—
