My dear Grayson

As you doubtless remember, you informed me some time ago that the President had agreed for Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt and party to return on board the GEORGE WASHINGTON. The other members of the party, so far agreed upon, are not known by any of the rest of us, and I am writing to suggest that you be good enough to let someone prepare a tentative list of those authorized to accompany the President, in order that we may furnish the Commanding Officer of the GEORGE WASHINGTON with whatever information that may be available.

The Commanding Officer has been officially informed that he is not to assign any quarters for any members of the party, except the President and Mrs. Wilson, until after your arrival on board, when he will take the question up with you and make the assignments to your own satisfaction. He has also been directed to so segregate the troop quarters from those of the President and his party, that the President may be able to enjoy whatever seclusion he may desire.

I earnestly hope that the general instructions which have so far been issued, will insure arrangements which will make the President, and those who accompany him, comfortable and contented throughout the voyage home.

I shall thank you for any information you can give me, as Ingersoll is starting out tomorrow Wednesday and will take whatever is available direct to Captain McCauley.

Very sincerely,

Carter

Rear Admiral Cary T. Grayson, MC, USN
Naval Aide to the President of the United States

P.S. The Roosevelt party is as follows:

Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt
Mr. and Mrs. Spellacy (Legal Assistant)
Commander JM Hancock, PS, USN (Accounting Assistant)
Mr. Livingston Davis (Civilian Assistant)
