My dearest,
Another full day is over. Went with the President this morning to return his call on the King of Italy. The King is very natural & democratic—very different from what I expected him to be. He says that he does like formal visits—but loves to see his friends and acquaintances, informally.
I had lunch at the Ritz hotel to-day. Met numerous Americans—among them—Madame Polianac—(spelling phonetically)—enquired very especially for you and showed much admiration for you—so did Mrs. B. Harriman. Mr. SS Howland—an old friend of Mr. Ross called to-day. He is one of the most delightful men I ever met—also, has a charming wife—Both very rich and very pro Wilson. Want to give me Paris and London on account of being a friend of Mr. Ross.
Visited with Mrs. Wilson Miss Winifred Holt’s Light House for the blind soldiers. She is a heroine over here. Done wonderful good work. Remember we met her at Mrs. Julian James’. Miss Edith shook hands with each blind soldier & gave them a box of cigarettes.
All well—and every hour full of interesting happenings concerning the Peace Conference—Love to Gordon. Please take good care of your precious self and remember away over here I love you more & more every day—
