Dear Sweetheart

I arrived on time this morning and had a half hour’s margin before the President arrived. I saw Mrs. Laurence & Miss Audry and helped them up the steps etc. The ride back was not so bad. The steam was turned on before hitching on to the regular train; the car was uncomfortably warm but was all right as soon after we got under way.

I miss you terribly much; but I am so thankful for a happy visit and it did me so much good to be with you and Gordon. I loved you more than ever, if such could be possible.

I hope your throat is better. Alkalol is a good gargle—not so irritating as Listerine and better for the nose, dilute it or not as you wish. The directions are on the bottle. Also put some of this or Listerine on the handkerchief and mop the nose is a good preventive measure, as well as curative, for colds & allied affections in the nose & throat. Pardon so much shop—but these little precautions might save considerable trouble.

The trip to Princeton & return was uneventful. The President and Miss E. both asked very especially and sweetly for you.The President is going to New York next Friday to speak and probably remain over until Sunday.

It is now seven o’clock and I am off for BMBs—with all my love—I am,

Your most devoted
