Dear Sweetheart

It has been raining hard all day. I hope you have been comfortable. It was good to hear your voice last night, but made me feel most anxious to be with you. I am planing to leave on the two o’Clock train to-morrow, Saturday, and I am looking forward with happiness being with my darling.

We have just finished the Board duty and I am glad it is over with. A very difficult task.

I had lunch with the McAdoo’s to-day. They speak so sweetly about you that alone made my visit a happy one.

A car will be on hand next Wednesday to bring their pony & some furniture back; and I think Kelly and any thing you want to ship had better come along at that time. Vance McCormick wants to buy Kelly. I told him that I did not know whether you would sell or not?B.

M. B is in New York. He left last night. I asked Jackson to find us a good maid. He reported to-day that he engaged Pride’s wife—Pride used to be with the McAdoo’s. From description—I think she is good. She had several other offers, so I engaged her beginning subject to your approval at $4000 per month. There is such a demand for servants that I thought it unwise to post-pone. Lots to talk with you about. Fred Duvall is about to be drafted; he is appealing to me for help—but I don’t know what I can do.

I am dining with Dr Boyd to-night. I hope that you are feeling much better to-day, my little girl—

Awaiting for to-morrow with anxiety and happiness for 10.30 p.M.—all out for White Sulphur—
