Dearest
It is now nearly 11.30. I have just returned from Keith’s with the President & Miss E. I have had dinner here nearly every day this week. I came to see the President professionally at 6.30. They insist I stay for dinner.
I am so sorry that I cannot be with you this Sunday; but the treatments are very necessary every day; otherwise adhesions would form between surfaces and spoil the result hoped for.
I had hoped to run down for the day; but I cannot on account of the beforementioned reason. Then, I work all day on that Board, Reading those records covering more than 20 years of service is a big task. Let the Board duty be the excuse I do not come; but if it were not for the nose I’d certainly spend Sunday with my darling.
I was so delighted to hear your voice last night. You were dear to call me.
This is a poor hurried note. Thanks for your letter received this morning.
I love you dearly and truly and wish I could kiss you good-night, my precious—
