Dearest Trudie

We arrived in Paris this evening in time for dinner—after a day’s travel from London. We were given a Royal send off and good-bye by the King and Queen and Princess Mary. They escorted us to the RR Station in grand form. We had a good passage across the channel. The English do know how to entertain—and make things go just right. There is so much I have to tell you—I am keeping pretty full notes—We are leaving to-morrow evening for Rome. The President is holding up well under the terrible strain—but Miss E. is not doing as well—I hope to be able to help her—which the President has asked me to do.

I miss you terribly and wish for you every day more and more. Please take good care of yourself, if you will do this—my New Year will be a happy one. Wishing you many, many happy New Years—Good night—
