Thursday.
Dearest,
Had a busy morning—and devoted the entire afternoon visiting the sewer sewer system of Paris, which is exceptionally good, I was asked by the Chief French Health Officer and Engineer to inspect the whole system with them. Col. Percy Jones of the army and two ar more army officers composed the party.
We dined at seven o’clock—after dinner, The President, Mrs. W. and I went for a motor ride. It was a beautiful evening, weather ideal. I wished for you and my thoughts seem to constantly drift over to you. This is all very fine—wonderful opportunity and “all that sort of thing,” but I am getting more anxious every day to get back to you and the boys.
This is the anniversary of our wedding day which I you to-day was the happiest and best day in my life. You have made life anew for me and given me more happiness then I ever dreamed could come my way. I am so everlastingly thankful for you and the boys.
I love you Truly and dearly and more so every day. Life is so fine and great with you as a partner—To-night I dined with Mr. Balfour, he was most entertaining, and shows every point of a fine, high gloss gentleman and statesman. He is nearer the President’s type of any one I have met over here. His admiration for the President is great.
I have spent a quiet but pleasant Sunday, motored through the forest of Fontainbleu this afternoon—with all my love to Trudie and the boys—
