Mr. WT Waggoner
Fort Worth, TX
Dear Mr. Waggoner: -
Your announcement of the racing meet came as a very pleasant surprise, but unfortunately I have an engagement in Washington on November 6th which I cannot cancel. In addition, I am selling some thoroughbreds at auction on the 7th and feel I must be present on that occasion. All of these plans were made before I knew of your meeting, of course.
Now, I cannot say “no” to a friend like you, and if you think I can be of any help to you I would be able to be with you for the first two days of your meeting - Saturday and Monday. Don't hesitate to speak freely and frankly as we always do to each other, but remember if you do want me for those two days I will gladly come.
Sincerely your friend,
CTG/n
