My Dear Admiral
Just a little note to express my appreciation of the honor that came to me, in being included among the guests to your lovely dinner on the evening of thursday Jan 23rd, 1930. I am so glad to have met Mrs Grayson and those three fine boys; Admiral I do not want to appear “flattery”, but I never saw three boys whose personalty, physical physique and mental alertness more noticeable. Naturally, I know how proud Mrs Grayson and the Admiral are of them.
I delivered your message to Col. Waggoner, and I wish you could have seen the old Colonel’s face? He certainly did appreciate the message and it pleased him very much. He certainly does beleive in you Admiral and considers you to be one of his best friends.
We Arlington folks hope you have the pleasure and honor of seeing you at Arlington Downs again, at which time I hope to greet you personally again.
My best regards to Mrs Grayson and the boys, and may I designate myself
Sincerily yours,
Valin R Woodward
