My dear Dr. Grayson
On Friday last Mrs. Woods and I went up to Blue Ridge Summit to look over our place which you rented last year, and to arrange for its Spring cleaning and the numerous other things which need attention from time to time. Several things needed attention at the woodshed and on the outside of the house, which were arranged for. I want to express to you and Mrs. Grayson our thanks for the care you took of the house and the condition in which you left it. It was a great contrast to some previous experiences. The house is really ready for occupation now, so far as its condition is concerned. In addition, I want to ask you if you are favorably disposed to taking the property again this Summer. If you are, I should rather rent it to you than to seek another tenant. My regret is that we cannot use the place ourselves: but it seems out of the question. I should like to sell the place on this account. Mr. Gardner told me that he had asked you about this last year, but he did not think you were “interested”. I have told Mr. G. to sell or rent the property, and there are Real Estate men in Baltimore who have asked me about the place. I have also written to a gentleman who was disposed to seriously consider purchase two years ago. Something may come out of this but there is nothing definite. I shall know, probably, in a day or two. If he does not buy the place, and you want it, I should like to offer it to you at the same rent of last year. I will fix it with Gardner, who, of course, would be entitled to his commission just as though negotiations had been conducted by him. I hope to have the pleasure of meeting you sometime. Your care of my dear friend and classmate, Ex. President Wilson, is one of the things for which his friends will always be grateful.
Sincerely Yours:
