Dear Carey

It was most thoughtful of you to send Christmas greetings, and I appreciate it very much. I hope you and Gertrude and those precious babies are enjoying the Christmas tide to the full. We have had a very tranquil but delightful Christmas. For two or three weeks before Christmas my wife was occupied every moment with charities and bazaars and so forth, and Sally has been on the go in a social way. My work keeps up uninterruptedly and I am exceedingly stale, but I am leaving tonight to be absent three or four days, and I hope to get much refreshment. I should like to hope that you and Gertrude would come over before we pack our trunks, but my tenure is short and I fancy that I shall see you in Washington first. Our affectionate regards to you both, and I am,

Sincerely your friend,

Hugh C. Wallace
