My dear Admiral

I am sorry I missed you before I had to come over here. I turned back the manuscript of your article to Wagner accompanied by your amemorandum of suggestions which may or may not appeal to you as desirable. I have been in touch with the Bell Syndicate people. Mr. Wheeler, the manager of it, is very much interested, and wants to know how much you want for it and whether you would consider an arrangement to divide the profits on a 50-50 basis. I told him I would submit the matter to you. In a note to me he says: He also thinks that if you can see your way clear to include your impressions, illustrate intimate anecdotes of Roosevelt, Taft and Wilson, the articles would have a great sale. Wheeler would come to Washington to more clearly outline his opinion of the sort of articles that would go big and bring returns worth while. In any event if you decide that you do not care to go further than the one article (which I have described to him) he would like to handle it on a basis satisfactory to you. I shall probably be over in Washington in about a week and will go into the subject with greater detail. as I want to see that you get the fullest possible returns compatible with the ethical considerations.

With my love to the family and regards to you, I am

Sincerely,
