Dr. Cary Grayson,

Dear Dr. Grayson

.I take the liberty ethically and professionaly, to send to our President Wilson, through you, a set of Martin Duplex wheels;-as I have noted through the Press that the President is not fond of his conventional wheeled chair - neither do I care for them.

I have used this mechanism for many years in my private practice, and find it has given the greatest comfort;- because as we both know, a convalescent usually has a favorite chair, and I devised this years ago, in order that the favorite rocker could be readily used in transporting the convalescent. Change of rooms being an essential feature, by the use of these wheels, a person can be easily rolled from place to place.

Directions for use:-
The convalescent is placed on his favorite rocking chair, a person standing back of the chair will slightly tip the Rocker forward, just sufficient to roll the wheels under the rung of the rockers with long end of blade forward. Then pull back to any agreeable angle- and - off you go.

If a sleeping position is desired, without removing the wheels, tilt the Rocker back over the axle,-the ruffing on the plates makes this position perfectly safe.

In case the rugs are very heavy, you will observe two holes under the axle into which the axle can readily be placed this will compensate for the thickness of carpet, rugs, etc. This is done by loosening the exposed nut on the axle.

One point which I have found invaluable with this device is that the convalescent can be rolled into a room, the wheels easily removed, and put out of sight-the operation requiring only a slight manipulation with the foot scarcely observable. You will appreciate that this device is not on the Market, and has only been used in my private practice;-in case the President does not desire to use it, you are at liberty to present it to a Hospital or so with it as you like.

Very respectfully yours,

TJ Martin
