Dearest Altrude

You all vanished into thin air when you left Washington—and I still have no idea where to find you—But I hope all your plans worked out happily and your summer has been a great success—

Randolph and I had three restful delightful weeks in Maine—then home for one day when I started for “The White”—ewhere I was asked as a guest for “Lee Week” and I had a lovely time—It was as gay as the old White—with 4 & 5 parties a day—

Miss Boxie Scott met me there and I went home with her for 2 days—en-route we lunched at the “Hat” with Mrs. Christian—I had promised to spend a week with Miss Boxie at Swannanoa but I decided suddenly to go to Japan with Lettia & Ben for Virginia’s wedding on Sept. 23rd

I had no idea of going on account of the expense—but Randolph worked it all out for me—that with the 3 servants gone—as I had already done while in Maine—with no expense with the car—and household budget so reduced the trip would be no extra expense—So—we expect to leave Wash.

Monday the 5th stop at Banff & Lake Louise a day and reach Vancouver in time to sail on the 10th

Of course I am greatly excited over it but hate to leave Randolph so long alone. He insists he doesn’t mind it—But please drop in and see him now and then.

My love to you all,—and whichR. joins in, and I hope all goes well—

Yours affectionately
