Dearest little girl

I am just in from a meeting of our “Sigma Circle Card Party” and we are in for the thing March 1st at Mrs. Thropp’s house 230 P.M.

There was a meeting last week which you & I missed at which time they decided to give you the ticket taking job at the door—but if you don’t want to do it—Mrs Hellen & I will relieve you—and we can talk about it after you get home—

I am still missing you dreadfully and know what good times you & Miss Harsey are having together in this wonderful weather—give her my love and tell her to just enjoy every minute as I did—

Well—do you know I got home 2 hours & a quarter late—when we got about 2 miles outside the Wash. station we suddenly came to a stop and sat there, 1 hour & 30 minute—with an apparent reason—

So I did not get home until 11 oclock. I found the most wonderful flowers waiting for me with a card of welcome and______something else from CTG and Susie said he had called up 3 times since 8—and said please to call him—So after talking to the family—I did call him—and he said he had been home reading & waiting for me all the evening & he was coming over just to say hello—He came and I never saw him in better form—He has been on the go every minute, apparently—and looks fine—

Of course we talked outrageously late and I told him of all our good times—

Then he called me up yesterday morning—and said he forgot to tell me he wanted to make his peace for not writing in answer to my N. Haven letter, but he thought he would not do anything to bring him self upon your horizon—as that was your wish—Just a little while after he phoned “George” called up—& said he might go to NY and wanted to know where you were

I expect you have already heard from him—but if not I will tell you the poor fellow has been in the Hospital 3 days & they now decide his teeth are the cause of the trouble—He did not sound as though he thought so—but I hope they are right if they can thus remove the trouble—

Then after I talked to him Helen Woodrow Bones called up—and we had a nice long talk—she said she had asked Carey about when we would be back & said she missed me so—and how did he feel—and then, he said—Well I miss her, too, just as much as I do somebody else—

I told her I took that with a very large grain of salt—whereupon she roared—so last night when he was here I told him about it—and he said—she hadn’t told him she had given him away—

He must tell you about the “Chandelier Party” it is the funniest story I ever heard. Last night they had moving pictures at the White House & he came up here afterward & brought me one of the programs—done up like a Diploma & tied with white satin ribbon—when he was going through his pockets to get something to read me he unloaded the 3 enclosurs—which I thought might interest you—Especially the one I marked E & A—

I told him I was going to write you today—and what should I tell you from him—and he said—Just tell her I am keeping the faith—that’s all.

I phoned phoned Lizzie & Maureen yesterday morning, and they said they would send you the things at once—so I hope you have them.

This is the day you there were to p about your —Please remember every thing about “A” to tell me—would I were there to go with you!

“Tonight’s the Night” for the German and I just know how Davey is glowing at the thought of being with you again Give him a big share of love from me and tell him—I will never forget all his charming courtesies and hospitalities—and hope we will see him soon—

Love to Miss Ayres—And a great big share for your precious self—from one who loves you—I hurt my hand this morning—So am afraid you wont be able to read this—
