Text

Dear, Stricken little Heart

I have only learned within the hour of your dear father’s falling asleep—You know how genuinely I share your loss, and sorrow, with you—

Can I be of any help? If so, I will come to you at once—

I know you have so many friends that I don’t want to intrude; but feel so glad of the little talk we had the night before I left home—and want to reiterate each word I said to you—

My home and heart are open to you—and I offer you the enfolding tenderness of the pitying sympathy of one who has known the depths through which you are gropingYour heart is too bruised now to stand even the faintest touch upon the wounds that are so fresh. All you want is love and protection—

My address is—care Mr. Hugh L. Rose
10 Park Place
Geneva–NY

If you want me to come, a telegram is all that is necessary—With every good & tender thought

Edith Bolling Galt.
