Text

Dear Mr. Minister

I cannot express how deeply I appreciate your very fine and generous letter. In times like these it helps a lot to receive a letter like yours. It was so fine I conveyed it to the President and he was very deeply touched by your solicitude and your friendly expressions. It cheered and helped him greatly. You will be interested to know that he continues to improve slowly. Considering all that he has been through, his condition is most encouraging.

Mrs. Grayson and I have often referred to our pleasant evening spent with you at Senator Phelan’s, and I hope that a renewal of this pleasure will not be denied us much longer. If Mrs. Grayson knew I were writing, I know she would join in the wish that 1920 will be the best you ever had.

[Handwritten note]: The Irishman has a Mass said for recovery of a Presbyterian President - very nice letter.

Faithfully yours,

Hon. Maurice Francis Egan
22 Prospect Park West,
Brooklyn, New York.
