My dear Mr. Douglass:
I want to thank you warmly for your letter of October 28th, and to assure you that we greatly appreciate your generous offer. While it is not feasible for the President to leave Washington at this time, I shall be very glad to keep in mind all that you say. I know the President will be touched by your thoughtfulness.
