Text

SUNDAY,The President went to church in the morning, although I had tried to keep him in bed. He insisted, however, that he was well enough to go to divine service. After the church services, he took a short ride and returned to the hotel, where during the afternoon he saw a committee of the League to Enforce Peace, and also received the members of the reception committee. Los Angeles was left at 7:00 o’clock that night after a two day stay that according to most of the men who knew the situation was one of the warmest demonstrations in the city’s history. The President was greatly cheered by his reception and by the evident endorsement of his position by the people with whom he had come into contact. As a matter of fact, practically all of the newspapers had editorially endorsed his position.
