AMERICAN LEGATION

Dear Captain Smith

I cannot allow this opportunity to pass without thanking you for your cooperation in regard to the automobiles brought from Paris under your direction and used during the President's visit. I do not know how we should have been able to carry out the arduous program arranged, had it not been for the excellent work performed by you and the men under you.

Please convey to the chauffeurs my appreciation of their loyal service.

Sincerely yours,

BRAND WHITLOCK
