Text

Dear Governor

A great deal of publicity has been given to this letter from John P. White, President of the United Mine Workers of America. I merely acknowledged it and said I would call it to your attention. Evidently there is a feeling that because of the important part the mine workers of America are going to play in the war, it might be worth while considering the suggestion Mr. White makes. I think the letter is important enough for you to acknowl- personally, and possibly you may wish to take up with the Council of National Defense the suggestion of having the United Mine Workers of America represented in the Council of National Defense by Mr. White.

Sincerely yours,
JP Tumulty

The President.
