Text

Dear Mr. President

HENRY P. DAVISON, CHAIRMAN I am acknowledging your letter for Mr. Davison, who is with his son who was gravely injured on Saturday last while taking his final tests as a naval aviator. Mr. Davison wanted your counsel as to the suggestion that a group of Congressmen visit Europe, under the general auspices of the American Red Cross, and will be glad to receive it, for his guidance, as soon as his son's condition permits him to return here.

Our early hopes as to Mr. Davison's son have been succeeded by grave concern. The injury to his spine is much worse than first examination indicated, and an operation, serious in nature, is contemplated. While the young man may survive there is danger that his injury will be permanent. Thanking you in Mr. Davison's behalf for your kind letter, I am, Assistant to Mr. Davison. The PresidentWhite House,Washington, D. C.

Sincerely yours,Martin Egan
